Meet Brady
Brady Banks is running to represent the newly formed District 4 because he believes the people in our community need someone who knows Metro Government and who is responsive to their needs and concerns. As a Nashville native, he cares deeply about our city, our district, and its citizens.
Brady knows that no issue is too small, and that all concerns deserve a quick response from local government. He wants to be accessible and respond to his neighbors’ concerns about the issues our community is facing – in education, public safety, jobs, and Metro services. He wants to be as accessible and responsive as a candidate as he will be as your councilman.
Brady has long been committed to working for our community and our families.
Knowing the importance that literacy plays in our city's economic success and our children's future, Brady currently serves as a literacy and education advocate. He is leading efforts to strengthen and sustain Imagination Library programs in all 95 Tennessee counties for the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, serving during both the Bredesen and Haslam administrations.
At the foundation, Brady strengthens relationships with city and county mayors, key partners, and area birthing hospitals in order to encourage maximum registration of newborns and fundraising.
Before joining the GBBF, Brady served as the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods for Mayor Dean. As the director, he worked daily with neighborhood groups, constituents, and Metro departments to help local government respond to community needs.
Brady also served as vice-chair for the Mayor’s anti-poverty initiatives, co-chair of the Mayor’s Housing Fair, and as a committee member for the Mayor’s Creating Livable Communities Task Force. He authored a proposal for Metro Nashville to become a community partner with the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance. This partnership helped to create healthier communities, stimulated job creation, and make residential and commercial buildings more energy efficient. This effort led to a quarter-million dollar grant for the city.
Previously, he worked as statewide appeals officer for the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. He has been identified both locally and nationally as an emerging leader in civic life and nonprofit administration. He is a Nashville Emerging Leader alumnus and was a fellowship recipient for the Dartmouth Tuck School of Business Nonprofit Bridge Program.
Brady is a board member of Nashville Emerging Leaders and is the past co-chair for Episcopal Relief and Development for the Diocese of Tennessee. He is a graduate of Metro Nashville Public Schools, having attended McGavock High School. He holds a B.A. from Mercer University and a Master of Divinity in Religion and Public Policy from Harvard Divinity School.
He is married to Kristin Clark-Banks, a minister at Belle Meade United Methodist Church in Nashville.
